Snowdonia Farm Holidays offer accommodation on farms, in cottages and country houses located in and around the Snowdonia National Park, from Caernarfon on the Menai Straits in the North to Criccieth and Harlech on the Cardigan Bay Coast. Snowdonia is a contrast of rugged mountains and wooded valleys, rushing streams and peaceful lakes, glorious beaches and boat-dotted harbours.
Caernarfon is a delightful small market town with a handsome square. Its Castle is recognised as a World Heritage Site. The walled town is full of intriguing restaurants and old inns and is set by the side of the Menai Straits. Walk along the promenade, with the glorious view of the sea and Anglesey, towards the harbour and marina, or over the little bridge to the delightful Aber foreshore with its children's play area and the Caernarfon golf course.
Nearby is Llanberis, set by the side of the beautiful Padarn lake at the foot of Snowdon, home of the unique Snowdon Mountain Railway and the little train which runs along the far side of the lake. The Electric Mountain - the largest hydro electric pumped storage station in Europe - created within a mountain, also welcomes visitors.
Criccieth is a small seaside Victorian town. Its castle built by Llywelyn the Great in 1230 has panoramic views over Cardigan Bay. The Lloyd George Museum is nearby in his home village of Llanystumdwy. In the heart of the countryside is the unique footpath - 'Y Lon Goed' - an avenue of hardwood trees winding its way through farmland from the sea to the mountains for some 6 miles.
Porthmadog is an attractive harbour town popular with shoppers and train lovers. The famous Black Rock sands are 2 miles from the town centre. A stone's throw away is the intriguing Italianate village of Portmeirion.
Along the sandy shores is the historic town of Harlech with its impressive castle, famous Royal St. David's golf course and an excellent theatre. The backdrop of the area is the Rhinog mountain range, where you will find some of the most rugged and remote terrain in Wales. Two valleys penetrate the region: Cwm Bychan with its tranquil lake and path to the Roman Steps, and Cwm Nantcol with its challenging peaks, woodland trails and waterfalls.
Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island, Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes and the seaside resort of Barmouth on the spectacular Mawdach Estuary.
